manor
Founded in 1985 by David Hohnen, Cloudy Bay Winery is located in Marlborough, one of New Zealand's premier wine regions, nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Richmond Ranges. This pioneering winery, nestled at the entrance of its namesake bay, was one of the first to fully exploit Marlborough's terroir. Today, the winery boasts over 310 hectares of vineyards. Cloudy Bay is committed to sustainability, incorporating environmentally friendly practices throughout its operations, from the vineyard to the cellar. Over the past three decades, Cloudy Bay has established itself as a flagship brand for premium New World wines.
vineyard
This Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from vines grown in the renowned Wairau Valley in the heart of Marlborough. The gravelly and stony soils, combined with the dry, sunny climate, create ideal conditions for producing an aromatic and authentic New Zealand white wine.
Winemaking and aging
Fermentation takes place mainly in stainless steel tanks, with a small amount (5%) in oak barrels. To preserve the terroir, this Marburg wine is partially fermented with indigenous yeasts.
