The importance of digestive health

Our digestive system (gut) is central to supporting our health – it contains more than 70% of the body’s immune system and 10 times more bacteria than we have cells in our whole body (the gut microbiome).

The microbiome is made up of many different species of bacteria, some of which are considered friendly and others termed pathogenic. The bacteria line the gut wall and help to stop toxins and harmful substances passing through the gut into the body – so ideally, we need a lot more good than bad. The ideal ratio has been estimated at 85% good to 15% bad bacteria and if this balance is affected it may lead to digestive symptoms such as bloating or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

The stresses of our modern lifestyles have been shown to have an impact on reducing the levels of friendly bacteria and potentially give the unfriendly bacteria species a chance to become dominant. Each capsule contains 12.5 billion friendly bacteria along with key nutrients to provide additional support for digestion (calcium) and immunity (vitamins C and D, zinc and selenium).

Ingredients:
Calcium Carbonate, Fructooligosaccharides, Microorganisms (Lactobacillus acidophilus CUL60 & CUL21, Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis CUL34, Bifidobacterium bifidum CUL20), Vegetarian Capsule Shell (Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose), Colour (Titanium Dioxide), Ascorbic Acid, Zinc Citrate, Corn Starch, Dicalcium Phosphate, Anti-caking Agents (Silicon Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate), Corn Maltodextrin, Modified Corn Starch, Sunflower Oil, Sucrose, Antioxidants (Sodium Ascorbate, DL-Alpha Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate), Sodium Selenite, Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol).

Recommended daily intake:
As a food supplement, for best results take two capsules per day with food for a period of 1-4 months, depending on personal need. Thereafter it is usually possible to reduce to one capsule a day with food, to provide a high maintenance dose.
