Philips ADD580 RO Water Purifier filter replacement guide. The recommended replacement cycle is once every year (actual frequency depends on local water quality).
🛠️ 4 Steps for Filter Replacement
Step 1: Safety Preparation
  • Unplug the power plug of the water purifier.
Step 2: Remove the old filter
  • Press the filter cover knob on the unit to pop the cover open.
  • Rotate the old filter counter-clockwise to the unlock position.
  • Lift upwards and remove the old filter.
Step 3: Install the new filter
  • Insert the brand new filter.
  • Rotate clockwise to the lock position.
  • Replace the filter cover.
Step 4: Reset and Purify
  • Plug the power back in.
    • 📱ADD6920: Long press the "ambient" + "150ml" buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
    • 📱ADD6921: Long press the "250ml" + "500ml" buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds

  • Once you hear 3 musical tones and the filter indicator light turns back to blue, the reset is successful.
  • Perform the one-touch drainage procedure 2 times to thoroughly flush out carbon dust and air.

If the following codes appear after changing the filter, they are usually related to temporary sensor abnormalities, water temperature, or air locks:

Error Code Meaning Recommended Action
E1 Water temperature sensor error 1. Check the pure water pitcher; if the water temperature feels higher than room temperature (e.g., due to having just filled it with hot water), please empty the pitcher.
2. Place the empty pitcher back into the machine, wait for it to finish filtering again, then dispense 300ml of ambient water continuously to let the sensor recover.
E2 Outlet temperature sensor error 1. Directly dispense 300ml of ambient water to allow the internal outlet pipe to cool down and stabilize.
E4 Heating element overheating/error 1. Pause the hot water function.
2. Dispense 300ml of ambient water to cool down the internal heater; once it cools to room temperature, you can use hot water again.
E6 Filtration error / System air lock 1. Unplug the power and wait for 1 to 2 minutes.
2. Check if the filter is tightened to the lock position 🔒.
3. Reconnect the power. If it still displays, please ensure the raw water tank is full or try performing a one-touch drainage.
💡 Universal reset trick (if stuck): Unplug the water purifier, wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute, and then plug it back in; this usually resolves most system glitches. If the error code persists after trying the above methods 2-3 times, it is recommended to contact the official Philips Customer Service Center for repairs.

💧 Raw Water Tank and Pure Water Pitcher: Daily Cleaning and Descaling Instructions
Regular cleaning helps prevent bacterial growth and limescale buildup (it is recommended to clean the raw water tank at least once a week and descale once every 3 months)
1. Daily Cleaning (at least once a week)
  • Raw Water Tank and Pure Water Pitcher: Remove the raw water tank and take out the pure water pitcher; open the lids. Use a clean soft cloth or soft sponge and clean water to rinse the insides.
  • Bottom sealing valve: The raw water tank and pure water pitcher have outlet valves at the bottom where mucus or small impurities can accumulate. Rinse them thoroughly with water or gently clean them with a small, clean brush.
  • ⚠️ Important Prohibition: Never use gasoline, stain remover, or strong acidic/alkaline chemical solvents to wipe the machine or the tanks, as this may damage the plastic material.
2. Raw Water Tank Descaling Instructions (once every 3 months)
The tap water in many parts of Hong Kong has high hardness. Over time, a white layer of limescale will form on the bottom and walls of the raw water tank, which can affect sensor sensitivity.
  • Step 1: Remove the raw water tank from the machine (never perform this while attached to the water purifier).
  • Step 2: Fill the raw water tank about halfway with clean water and add 30g of food-grade citric acid; stir gently to dissolve.
  • Step 3: Let it soak for 2 hours. For stubborn limescale, you can increase the soaking time or use warm water.
  • Step 4: Pour out the citric acid solution, rinse thoroughly with clean water, then fill with fresh tap water and return to the machine for use.
3. Internal System Maintenance (for long periods of non-use)
  • If you expect not to use the machine for more than 2 days, it is recommended to discard any old water before reusing, refill with fresh water, and perform 2 cycles of one-touch drainage.
  • If traveling abroad or not using for an extended period (over a week), please use the one-touch drainage function (press and hold 85°C and 300ml buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds) to drain the internal pure water tank and unplug the power.
